ComForcare franchise owner, Richard Rogers, brings personal experience, support, and enthusiasm to his Florida-based home care business. ComForcare South Sarasota owner, Richard Rogers, brings a wealth of personal experience and understanding to his home care service agency to deliver a higher quality of care. Rogers opened the home care franchise in 2008, and serves clients throughout Sarasota County providing private-duty non-medical home care services. An Unexpected Opportunity Years ago, Rogers was on a different career path. He had just opened a restaurant with his wife and shortly after was involved in a kitchen accident that would alter his life. As he was working at the restaurant, an oven behind him exploded and hit Rogers with a concussion wave that caused nerve damage in his brain. He began experiencing memory loss and cognitive difficulties and was eventually diagnosed with traumatic brain injury. Through the support of his friends and family, Rogers’ cognition began to improve, but life for him has never been the same since. Rogers says he now adjusts his approach to tasks and relies heavily on lists and written reminders. Rogers opened his ComForcare business to be able to assist others in the community who may be dealing with challenges similar to his. He was drawn to the ComForcare franchise because it was so well organized. “The business model makes it easy,” Rogers says. “Everything is already in place for you, and you don’t feel like you are starting from nothing.” High-Quality Home Care Services ComForcare provides an array of support services for new franchises including on-site training at their corporate offices and follow up marketing, training, and operation support. Rogers says he enjoys the challenge of running a business and that those challenges are what motivate him. He also shares that learning so much new information has even helped improve his cognition skills. For Rogers and his home care provider team, providing exceptional client care is the most important aspect of the business. Rogers emphasizes that his home care providers allow clients to do as much as they can on their own to help them maintain their independence. Just as it helped him with his own cognitive challenges, he hopes to empower and support others as well. Even while running a successful home care business, Rogers still finds time to enjoy cooking, and has even written an easy-to-follow cookbook called Scrambled Brains that focuses on single tasks for chefs who may be challenged with cognitive difficulties. He also brings his passion for cooking to the job. Rogers believes that meals are about bringing people together so he encourages his home care providers to sit and enjoy a meal with their clients. It provides an opportunity to engage in conversation and make deeper connections. He also believes sharing meals promotes healthy eating and overall wellness.
