Life of human beings is composed of three things, past, present and future. What we did is our past, what we are, is the present and what we will be is the future. While defining any community all these three things are constituted as a whole presenting the accurate picture of the community in current world. Similarly African culture and traditions of their past, present and future are used to draw the African image in US of today. Africa is a big continent, divided in small fragments called countries. Each country is further divided in communities and tribes where members of the community follow their culture with great respect and chariness. They do not want to hurt the sentiments of their elders and ancestors resting in peace. Most of these people have to move out of the African continent in search for better job opportunities so that they can afford a good life for their family members. When a person leaves his motherland, the place of their own language and culture, they have to leave a lot many things behind which he may not be able to see again ever in his life. Keeping the pain and feelings of these people of African Diaspora, several African organizations are trying to bring them together. In United States of America, African communities are flourishing greatly in education, professional and political fields. These people know how to make most of the limited resources they had and how to present their best in every condition. Heritage is passed on the generation from generation by the elders. Your grandmother taught her daughter something, which is now passed on to you by your mother. Likewise in communities like African communities, the elders and senior family members try to pass on their knowledge, customs, traditions and practices to the next generation. It is the method keeping all the traditions and customs alive with the practices. Doing it is easier when you are surrounded by your own people where practicing your customs and beliefs do not make you feel awkward or outcast in any way. African events are organized throughout the country to bring the entire African community together. In these events dance and music programs are the main attraction. Different communities have different music and dance culture which is presented here in the events. When the young members of the community witness such colorful side of their community, they are likely to develop respect for their culture.
