Oh my goodness! I am tired! We’ve been in our new house for 27 days and it still looks severely un-unpacked. Meaning, we still have boxes everywhere. And I mean everywhere. The garage is full, except for a pathway to the door and the laundry area. The spare bedroom walls are lined with boxes and disassembled furniture. Even the master bedroom and bath have boxes that just wouldn’t go anywhere else. It’s slow going because of the interesting way the movers have labeled the boxes. Attached to my china cabinet was a package that should have been the glass doors. Instead, it was labeled “basement shelves”. Turns out, it was actually a folding table that had never seen the inside of the basement. I keep finding kitchen items labeled as “books” or “office supplies”. Of course, these boxes are nowhere near the kitchen. I still haven’t found the glass doors. I need to get started on making quilts for the new babies of my husband’s fire department. I plan on buying new fabric, but I don’t want to have to buy new tools. I keep seeing boxes labeled “quilting supplies” but none of them seem to contain anything for quilting. Finally, in a box labeled “office paperwork”, I found the bulk of my most used tools and supplies! I think the trick is to expect something completely different than what the boxes are supposed to be. I do know where my sewing and embroidery machines are. I packed each of those myself and labeled them clearly. Since I plan on finishing the baby quilts with embroidery quilting, this is very important! I also found a box that holds needles, bobbins and machine feet that I couldn’t find the whole time we were in Greece. This was an exciting find because I can be making quilts now instead of looking for the replacements I had to buy. Of course, these are quilting supplies that I use a lot of, so I don’t mind having extra. And, of course, I know where my machine embroidery quilting designs are. I keep them on the external hard-drive that I save all of my important files on and carry with me. I love quilt embroidery so much that I have a huge selection of designs. But, I always seem to need more. Once again, I don’t mind having extra because there is always a need for them. Whether I finish my quilts with embroidery quilting or my long-arm, I see making quilts as a very physical activity. As tired as I am with the move, I look forward to the different exercise of creating these baby quilts. I get excited unpacking my household items, but it is nowhere near as exciting as creating a new quilt. Today, I start my search for that little box that the movers have labeled as “sleepy”. I just know it’s there. When I open it, I’ll find that it’s actually full of the energy I need to get this all done in the next week or so. It’s probably in the very bottom back corner of the garage! Author Bio DedeHallett at OPW Mall offers huge and astonishing collection of quilt embroidery designs and patterns in different colors and shades.
