5 Tips That Generate Traffic For Your Articles by Ryan J James Once your article is published to an internet to a site like InfoBarrel or Squidoo, you just sit back and watch your Ad-sense earnings rolls in, right? Wrong! Getting the article published is just half the battle. You now need to share your wisdom with the rest of us in cyberspace. After all, wouldn't the world be a better place if everybody could learn about and appreciate your brilliance? I say that tongue in cheek, but in all seriousness, if you follow these tips, you will increase your readership. If you have had the opportunity to speak with somebody who is generating income from the articles that they publish online, they will probably admit to you that they are earning between $0.25 and $2.00 per month for each article that they have ever published. Earning money from your articles is purely a numbers game, and it is critical to understand the correlation between people reading your article and the balance in your Google AdSense account. In all honesty, you are likely to generate around $15.00 for each 1,000 views in advertising. If you hear that an article earned $1.00, you can do the calculations to know that the article had roughly 70 page-views. That is a good number for somebody that has not researched their keywords, not independently marketed their articles and not used any additional monetization strategies (i.e. affiliate marketing) for their articles. This is all to say that to earn money from advertising revenue, you need to be generating page views. Once I obtain confirmation that an article has been published, I follow these five steps to generate more views and extra money: 1. Update your existing articles with links to your newest article. This has to be natural and cannot feel as if you are crow-barring in links for the sake of it. If done effectively, it helps your reader to stay inside your content, which increases the likelihood they find something they truly like/recommend to others. For example, in my article about Classic Bollywood movies (which I wrote because the keyword had large search volume), there was a sentence that said Bollywood movie actors were India's equivalent of Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp. When I wrote that line, I intended to write subsequent articles on these actors. Once these later subsequent articles were approved, I placed backlinks into the original Bollywood piece. 2. Submit your article to the host for consideration as a feature article (provided the host has this functionality - I know InfoBarrel does). So far, I've had seventeen articles features and can confirm that this generates decent volume. 3. Create a regular auto-tweet to your new post by using a product such as TweetAdder. If possible, include the twitter handles of popular tweeters who might enjoy or retweet your article. This happened to me- I wrote a Top 10 piece on the members of Howard Stern's Wack Pack and his re-tweet generated almost 10,000 views within 24 hours. 4. Update your AdSense account with the url address of your new article. This will let you track the traffic and revenue for each article in your portfolio. Over time, you will recognize that certain article types out-punch their weight when it comes to income while ones you thought would be slam-dunks fall flat. This is necessary for your development as an author. Within Google Adsense, go to 'My Ads', then 'URL Channels'. 5. Recommend your article on every one of your social media sites (StumbleUpon, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest). This gives your article a chance of going viral.
