What is file management? This is a common question that can be answered in a very simple way. Practicing good file management is a great system to make a part of your daily routine. File management can have some great benefits. You will need to get in the habit of saving your files properly and there are a couple of ways that you can accomplish this goal. You can start by creating a master file. This is where you will save all of your information. This file should be easily accessible and you will eventually create subfolders that will contain your personal files. When you name the files in your subfolders you will want to make sure that you understand how to do this in a way that your computer likes the best. All of your characters should be lower case and you will want to refrain from placing spaces in between words. It can take some time to get used to ignoring rules about spacing and capitalization, but this is how your computer will prefer you to name files. If you place spaces in between words, a computer can place extra characters in between these words that can make the files harder to recognize. When you eliminate spaces, your files can be named with the name that you choose and there will not be any extra letters that can deter you from recognizing your files later. When you are choosing a name for each file you want to think about the future. You may forget about this file at some point and a name will help you to easily recognize this file. Names should be straight forward and to the point. You do not want to be creative with the names of your files. It can be a good idea to go through files and delete any files that you are no longer using. If you have many files on your computer, there may be some that you do not utilize any longer. Occasionally clearing up files and deleting anything that is unnecessary will allow you to find things much faster later. What is computer file management? This is a great practice to make a part of your computer routine. You will be able to find files quickly. You will never spend time trying to find a file again and you can eliminate this frustration. Good file management will give you the tools to find what you are looking and move on with your day.
