Reasons Why You Need To Choose the Right Regulator

Business

Why are there different types of gas regulators and why can’t I use one on the other? This question is asked often and it may be seen as a reflection of how many people are unaware of the value of using them and the safety risks associated with them. There several types of gases used for purposes such as cooking and lighting fires such as campfires.

Unique Properties

These gases have distinct properties and that is why it is necessary to design gas regulators for each of them. Usually a spring is used to determine the amount of fuel that should be delivered from the cylinder to the burner. Since propane, butane and LPG each has different properties, then each must be delivered at different pressures. Acetone is very corrosive so the spring and orifices must be designed to handle high levels of corrosion. If corrosion continues for an extended period of time, it will lead to leaks and an explosion may result.

Safety

Gases that are very flammable must be released at low pressure in order to reduce incidences of accidents. Every regulator has an orifice, which is a small hole where the gas goes through. Certain orifices may be smaller depending on the operating pressure of the gas. Propane runs on a higher operating pressure than natural gas used at home, so they must have different orifices that deliver gas at the desired pressure.

One thing you must note before buying lpg gas pressure regulator, is how you use the stove or burner can determine the type you will use. A commercial building such as a restaurant will typically have a kitchen where multiple burners that need to be fed with gas from the cylinder.

Efficiency

The regulator for such restaurants will have to be designed to handle varying pressure levels. The stove you use at home is much simpler and does not require anything specialized. Natural gas supplied to every home can be used without the need for it to be regulated. Barbeque grills may come with an additional regulator to ensure safety and efficiency of the grill.

Another important part of the regulator is the valve. While the Orifices’ work is to supply fuel at the correct pressure, the valve controls the volume of gas coming from the orifice to the burner. The internal design of the valve is such that you cannot use it with another type of gas because they are designed to work together. To ensure safety, make sure you use only the right regulator for the gas it is intended.
