What are the facilities for Liver Transplant in India?

Health

Liver, as we all know, is an important part of our body and helps in digesting proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and also dilutes substances that are harmful for the body. Liver also helps in blood clotting. Bile is emitted from the liver and helps in digestion.

What is liver transplant? If the liver is infected or having some disease, a portion of it or the whole liver is substituted by a fit liver through surgery. Liver transplant is only performed when the patient faces severe liver damage and it is also a time-demanding procedure.

What are the reasons for liver transplant? Liver transplant can be carried out due to final stage Cirrhosis, liver cancer, viral hepatitits (A, B, C, D), hepatic thrombosis, or genetic liver disease.

If you want a low cost liver transplant performed by experienced surgeons, then India is your target. Medical tourism India is now at its peak and India offers high-end clinical facilities, personalized patient treatment, and international standard care along with beautiful places to see all over the country. Big cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune and many more provide you liver transplant surgery in a much lower budget. You are sure to get more information in the site http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com/liver-transplant-India-low-cost-advantages.html.

In India, liver transplant cost can be borne by patients from all parts of society and from every corner of the world. However, finding an appropriate donor and the long healing period might add to the surgery cost, and it may cause financial problems for some people. Who can be donors for a liver transplant? Liver donors are usually of two types, diseased donor or live donor. Diseased donors are those who have died and most transplants are carried out through this procedure. Live donors should be a relative or family member of the patient for the surgery to be successful.

The process of liver transplant is quite lengthy and sometimes takes 5 to 6 hours. The operation is done under general anesthesia. Before beginning the surgery, the patient is given a tube to breathe through the mouth. A Y-shaped slit is made in the abdomen through which the infected liver is removed and the new one substituted. The new liver is attached to blood vessels and bile duct after which the opening is sealed.

Liver transplantation can be of three types: Orthotopic Transplantation, Heterotopic Transplantation, and Reduced-size Liver Transplantation. In Orthotopic Transplantation, the whole liver is removed and restored by another. In Heterotopic Transplantation, the infected liver is not removed, but another healthy liver is inserted in the patient’s body. Reduced-size Liver Transplantation involves transplanting part of a liver in the affected patient.

Post-operative care is also very important in liver transplant operations. There will be medication and tests to check whether the transplant has suited the patient well. After going through liver transplant, the patient is assured of a long and healthier life. Liver transplant in India is therefore, a viable option for people from any part of the world.
