The practice of storing the seeds has started since the ancient days itself, following easy and cost-effective methods such as drenching the seeds in saline water and packing them in containers, similar methods can be useful today as they do good for the present day storage, if huge amount is to be stored and then there are variations in the method of storing the seeds and these kinds are obtainable in the markets. Types of packing materials are changed according to the condition of the store rooms or ware-houses. This is done to keep the seeds fresh and maintain the quality till the time it is harvested in the fields by farmers. If seed store has facilities for controlling high temperature and comparative moisture, than porous containers like cotton bags, paper cardboard, fiber board seed packagingbags can be safely used for conventional seeds, for several years, but in that case the control and measure of the pests has to be taken care of.
