Adherence to the OSHA safety manual is mandatory and employers are legally bound to follow the manual in order to give protection to their employees in the work place. They must ensure that there is nothing in the workplace that is threat to the lives of their employees. If any hazardous chemicals are being used, it is the duty of the company to inform about the threat and its consequences to the employees and make them wear the safety dress that is important for their healthy job. It is mandatory that the employers arrange frequent training programs to make the employees aware of the potential threats that can cause injury or illness. Importance of Customized Safety Manual A documented policy on safety and the procedures to be adopted during the working hours at the premises is required to be in place and safety precautions that are to be adopted must be on display. There cannot be a common safety manual that is applicable to all industries and work places. Every organization has their own hazards and it is the duties of the employer to identify all the possible threats and inform about them to his employees. He should supply all the protective clothing and train his employees to face the threat. The safety manual prepared by the organization should contain all these things and they should get the approval of OSHA. Safety Officers OSHA expects that every organization should have safety program and osha compliance training that should be included in the manual for safety. The company should have a manager to look after the safety aspects. It should be a full time post for large companies and for smaller ones; it will be the duty of operations manager. OSHA expects organizations to prepare Material safety data sheets (MSDS) and it should have details about the hazardous materials used by the company and the precautions to be undertaken by the employees if an eventuality arises. Large companies must also have a fire safety section with all the necessary equipment. Protection from electrical hazards and all the other exigencies that may arise must also be included in the channel.
