Over the last 50 to 60 years, our diet has changed. We no longer eat a natural diet from the garden or the local farm. Canned, frozen, packaged, processed, and fast foods are now readily available and have been increasing in our diet since the 1950’s. Because of our busy and fast pace life, many people are eating these “convenience” foods in their daily diet. During this time, diseases are also increasing, and new diseases are manifesting every year. Many people think that diet is something they do to lose weight or to keep a disease in control such as heart disease, or diabetes. Diet is simply eating and drinking the right foods that provide optimum nutrition to fuel the body so it can thrive and be healthy. What you put in your mouth is a choice you make and when your choices are causing you to suffer, as in poor health, you can change these choices and it will change the outcome you experience. Food is necessary to feed the cells in your body and keep them healthy. However, many people have abused the true meaning of why they eat food. They eat for social and emotional reasons, because of food addictions and cravings. They eat too much of the wrong kind of foods that cause excess weight and poor health. The right kind of protein, carbohydrate, and fat together with the right balance with each meal will bring about better health and weight loss. What you eat is only part of maintaining good health. Negative thoughts, physical and emotional stress, toxins in your home and the environment around you can also contribute to illness, disease and aging. Poor choices do lead to problems. Changing how you eat, think and live can help bring you back to homeostasis. You can start with the first step – eating an alkaline diet. Why eat an alkaline diet? Dr. Robert O.
