Riding a motorcycle leads to a lot of opportunities. Practically speaking, riding a motorcycle is cheaper than driving a car, it is easy to maintain, easy to control during traffic hours, easy to park and so much more. However, there are other things you can enjoy with your bike. You can go for a long road trip, a tour or a camping trip. This could be accomplished alone or with a group. Group riding is one of the most common things riders do when given a chance. Group riding made riding a motorcycle a fun and exciting activity. Motorcycle group riding can offer a different level of excitement, thrill and adventure. However, riding with a group presents a greater possibility of danger or risk than riding alone. To keep you safe throughout a group riding session with friends, learn about these guidelines first: 1. Plan. Any motorcycle trip won’t be a success without a proper plan. Being going out, talk with your group about the route you’re going to take and the things you need to do when unexpected things happen. Always make a plan ahead of time on how you can communicate with one another while riding. Since you can’t use your hands to make a conversation while riding, the group must devise a way to communicate with each other. 2. Look Ahead. When riding with a group, its either you ride at the front or at the back of another rider. In order to avoid collision, you must maintain a 2-second cushion from the bike ahead of you. This will give you enough time to react when the rider in front makes an unexpected move. 3. Pass one bike at a time. This is one of the most important rules in riding with a group. Do not pass a slow moving vehicle together or as a group. A rider will have a better visibility, quicker exit routes and enough space in case of collision when passing another vehicle one at a time. 4. Check who’s behind you. Another important rule when riding in a group is to check your mirror from time to time. This will help you keep track of each member. You may already lose one member and still nobody knows it because you didn’t check who’s behind you. To be sure, check three to four people behind you and if you miss someone, stop and wait for the others to catch up. If you waited for a long time and still no sign of the other riders, ride back and check what happened to them. These are the most common guidelines of motorcycle group riding. Follow these rules then keep on communicating with your members when riding and your group riding session will be a success.
