A Few Simple Dating Rules to Remember Dating rules and etiquette are always changing. It does not matter how old you become, you will discover that many of these rules change over time or drop out of sight. However, many of them continue to be the same as the years go by. When you meet and start a new relationship with a person, it would be good to know if this person abides by the same rules that you do. Or, does he have his own set of rules that you know nothing about? If the two of you have totally different viewpoints when it comes to dating, then your relationship is doomed from the very start. The following article is going to touch upon a few of the many dating rules that have passed along through various generations, as well as some of the present day ones. No Kissing on the First Date? Do women still refuse to kiss on the first date? Or, is this just something that women say to make themselves look better? This can be a pretty tricky question to answer. This is because these days, many couples actually sleep together on the first date. This was unheard of twenty or thirty years ago. If they did sleep together back during that time, then they did not tell anyone. Now it is almost a badge of honor. There might still be a few women who do not believe in kissing on the first date, but they are clearly in the minority. The Man Pays for Dates Although there are a lot of men that do not like this idea, this rule still appears to be in place. There are plenty of women who do not mind paying for dates. However, the vast majority of women still expect the man to pay when they go out on a date. Depending on the relationship, this somewhat changes once the couple becomes a steady dating item. If it is a serious relationship, the woman will start to pay more of the dating expenses. The Man Always Pops the Big Question Marriage proposals have always been done according to the man's judgement. There are plenty of women that hate this, but this is the way that it has always been. Now, there are women that have successfully proposed to their men, but it is not the norm. For some reason, women are more open to getting married but men see it as a chore. When you think about it, it is probably best that men are the ones who pop the question. This is because if women were the ones to do it, there would be a whole lot of men who would answer with a no. Maybe this rule is nature's way of keeping relationships together for the long haul. The 2 Year Dating Rule There are those women do not believe in dating for any longer than two years. They believe that it should not take a man longer than two years to decide if he is going to pop the question. If you are looking for someone to settle down with and get married, it does not make sense to waste your years with someone who does not want to marry you. Give him two years to make up his mind. If he has not proposed to you after two years, then move on. Unfortunately, there are men who will date you for ten years and father three or four children with you. However, they still will not put a ring on your finger. At what point are you going to say enough is enough? Do Not Date Your Friend's Ex This rule would apply more to your friends than the people that you are dating. But it involves your friends and the people that you have dated in the past. It is a general rule that your friends should not date anyone that you have dated in the past. This does not mean just the people that you have slept with. This means everyone that you have had any type of interest in. In addition, just because a friend says that it is okay for you to date one of her ex boyfriends, do not do it. Breakups are brutal. You never know who broke up with who. Your friend might still have feelings for an ex and did not get closure after the relationship ended. Never touch anyone that one of your friends has ever touched in the past. Whether you believe it or not, these rules have kept many relationships and friendships alive throughout the years. They might seem trivial in nature, but when they are broken they can cause major problems. Learn these simple rules of dating and don't break them.
