A technology patent war in the kilocalorie companies may be lifted
It is reported that KT associated BC Card which plays a leading role in the Mobile Card (Mobile Card) technology has recently suffered Asiana SK Card counterattack. The development of multi-service and protection technology patents can occupy the mobile card market
There are about 400,000 mobile card users in Korea, the SK Card which has the leading position promotes NFC technology automatically identify software" services developed by using Near Field Communication (NFC) from SK Telecom Distributors to the country. In addition, another new product "smart phone credit card application service software" of SK Card is upcoming. SK Card pointed out that, now plastic card era has come to an end, mobile card is becoming a new development impetus. BC Card has 29 patents on mobile card settlement, which has registered patent in mobile card set, update, delete, certification, as well as mobile card radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. Mobile card related advertising, information, technologies and mobile invoice are also the BC card patents.
The new generation of mobile card is still uncompetitive
The related analysis pointed out that the mobile card is not yet universal, although it will not outbreak large-scale patent battle now, but it is expected that the fierce competition of mobile card technology will inevitably with plastic cards gradually being eliminated over the next three to four years. SK Card and BC Card start competing in technology patents, at the same time other card companies also not sit still. Shinhan Card which is the leader of Korea Card industry has increased human resources for mobile card technology development, the Samsung card recently applied patents in the mobile card issuance method, integral and clearing. KB National Card and Lotte Card are also rectifying the investment. On the other hand, relevant comments pointed out that the main competitive advantage of the major card companies is still reflected in the integrated circuit card (IC) and traditional plastic card, the new generation of mobile card is still uncompetitive.
