Party Invitations and Flipping Houses for Profit A couple of nights ago I was invited to attend a gathering but the problem was I didn't know the party hosts, and to be honest, I did not feel like attending the party one bit. The fact of the matter is that I have been asked to go to gatherings just like this in the past where I pretty much don't know a soul, but at my girl friend's insistence, I always end up going. Why didn't I want to go? I had, in my mind, created a false sense of fear of attending…which, thankfully, was not at all based on reality. Whenever I thought about the party I pictured myself standing there to the side of the room, desperately trying to find something to talk about with the people who were there - of course no matter how hard I tried, I consistently struggled to connect with people. There was no common ground, the conversations always seemed so awkward, add in some super loud music and I always managed to have a downright miserable time. This was how I had pictured myself at this party. Have you ever had a party experience similar to mine? These are the kinds of gatherings you go to where you think to yourself you'd actually rather be at the dentist than going through this torture…. What if I had pictured a different outcome instead? So instead of being all by myself in the corner of the room…imagine if I had pictured being surrounded by people that were truly interested in what I had to say and contribute, fully engaging in conversation, while relaxing music played on in the background, completely relaxed and calm, enjoying the life experience? If had pictured THIS scenario instead, do you think, just maybe, that I would have been more open to attending the party? How this Relates to the House Flipping Mindset Envision for just a moment, that you are able to change this sort of perception not only when faced with a decision about a gathering to attend…but how about when you make your very first deal on flipping a house? Imagine that you have worked very hard for over a year in order to begin your career in real estate and you have finally found the perfect property to buy. Every sign is yelling yes. You've finally found a fair price, the financing is spot on, you know how much renovations will run and you are 90% sure of the price you will get when you finally sell the property. However you imagine all of this just falling apart, with the house just sitting there on the market, while you sit there watching everything unfold around you, constantly losing money… How successful can you possible be with this extremely pessimistic attitude? There is really no chance of success if you hold that type of mental belief. Instead picture the house selling for thousands more than your worst case price, selling in under a month, with you walking away with a very tidy profit for you and your joint venture partners as well as your financers. THIS is the house flipping mindset. This is not a guarantee that all will go as planned that things will go silky smooth only because you think it ought to...no my friend, that is not the case at all. You need to have a specific strategy that diminishes the odds of a poor deal - so that you can position yourself in a position to perceive value and awesome experiences instead of thinking of the pain. And even more importantly to acquire this positive mindset, and once you have mentally prepared be sure to then imagine success in your mind and focus on all that you have to gain from the deal. This is the mindset you need to flip houses and the first critical step to house flipping success.
