Yes, we must admit, it can be pretty scary. That is, jumping from a regular 9-5 job to the “unsure” world of the virtual assistance industry. We have been educated with the old ways of learning. The Industrial Age mode. Our parents have always told us to study hard, get a decent, regular job where we can grow old, provide for our family, live peacefully, and hopefully retire with some money in our bank account, plus a nice pension fund to boot. But do you think this is still the current trend? Sounds great, right? But probably, you have also heard about the word redundancy, down-sizing, cost-cutting, mergers and consolidation? Not to mention 1990s economic bubble which threw a lot by surprise – and that is even an understatement! Employees’ rights? We’re not even sure if the word collective bargaining agreement still exists. Let me tell you this, in as much as we are saying that being a virtual assistant is a totally unsecured job, and so is everything around us. The Information Age changed not only the way we live our lives, but also the way we do business. So, which scares you more? Losing your “secured” job, or trying your hand at the latest byword in the industry, i.e. becoming a virtual assistant? Many have found success in this industry because they have found the courage to change their mindset from being a corporate slave to a budding entrepreneur. They defied time, space and cultures. They became business partners, instead of just being employees. They took on jobs which they think suited their skills more. They took on jobs which best fit their lifestyle and family’s needs. They can choose who they work with, or work for. Fear is the greatest hindrance that one can have, but challenging the norm can be the most rewarding. Why? Any opportunity to break free from the norm is an opportunity for growth. Think about the many wonderful inventions that we enjoy right now. They exist because some people were brave enough to challenge the status quo. So are you now ready to take on the road to entrepreneurship by becoming a virtual assistant? Let me tell you this, it’s not an easy way to go. But the rewards can be pretty exciting. Your thoughts may force you to go back and stay in what you have been used to doing all these years, and that is being an employee who lives from paycheck to paycheck. You can’t blame yourself. That’s what our fathers had taught us. But now that you have been made aware of an alternative, and you’ve seen the potential rewards, maybe it’s about time to re-think your goals. Maybe it’s about time, in search of more earning potentials or more income alternatives, that we re-assess what we have been “programmed” to do all these years, and become a virtual assistant. Remember that you’re in control. You can make your own destiny. The only question that remains is, are you ready to make the leap?
