Fantastic Travel Plans Lead to Cabarete, Dominican Republic Adventure and travel go hand in hand, with events planned for a few miles away to locations across the globe. Of particular interest are areas of water, whether it is a sea or ocean, lake or river. The sun reflects its rays and causes sparkles to dance across the water while rainbows appear in the mist of waterfalls. Visitors and locals find that kind of magic in the Dominican Republic, which is one of the reasons it is such a popular tourist area. Both the ocean and the sand shimmer with the rays of the sun while lagoons beckon those who want to swim without the effect of the tide and waves. Relaxing on the beach is easy with a towel or blanket, either in the direct sun or under the shade of a hut or tree. The weather is extremely pleasant, providing encouragement to adults and children to enjoy the beautiful view and sunshine. Those tourists returning to the Dominican Republic are familiar with the various kinds of beauty found in that country and are delighted for the opportunity to return. First time visitors reacted to the stories regarding this lovely area, such as the healthy fresh fruits served as typical breakfast items, and are pleased they finally made the plans to visit. It is important to plan a journey like this so that the places one absolutely wants to see appear on the agenda. Christopher Columbus and his crew landed in the Dominican Republic centuries ago. The sailors were impressed with the beauty of the beaches and the food available around the island. The inhabitants were likely impressed with what to them were large ships as the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria sailed into the bay. Likely, they envisioned travel on a ship like that sometime in their future. Now visitors arrive by plane at the Puerto Plata International Airport, but the travel is still incredible and the opportunities for excitement just beginning. The Atlantic Ocean shines in front of the lovely town of Cabarete, located less than half an hour from the airport, and beautiful hills rise behind it. Farms account for much of the vegetation in the area, with many of the local farmers bringing produce to sell in the city each day. One small cup of delicious, fragrant coffee accompanies breakfast to start the day out right. Cabarete Beach is a myriad of colors for several reasons, with a plethora of blue, green, red and yellow hues filling the area. Clothing, tents, kites and flags show solids, stripes and patterns displaying the cheerful shades that add brilliance to the beach. Parents wade along the edge of the shore with toddlers while others swim in the warm water. Kiteboarding is a popular sport at the beach and for those a bit more adventurous, windsurfing and surfing conditions are excellent thanks to trade winds in the area. Those breezes pick up in the afternoon, so beginners and children usually schedule lessons for morning and the gentle breezes. The hills provide the opportunity for mountain biking and trekking, with exceptional scenery providing a memory to carry home. A car limits the ability to see things close up or clearly, whereas it is easy to dismount from the bike and explore intriguing areas on foot. Even when the canyons are seen in person, it is difficult to accept the reality of the incredible sight. Carry a camera at all times and take back a documented memory of the amazing journey to Cabarete.
