Tim asks, “I'm looking at building a cabinet to put on a patio, and put a sink in, and I was thinking about using the cellulose PVC, but I know, traditionally PVC in Florida weather does not go well. I'm just wondering if this material would hold up to the heat and humidity. I'm going to make it myself and put a sink in it. It'll be on the patio--it's a covered and screened patio.” Well Tim, here in Florida, our weather is rough on anything. I don't care what it is. The cellulose PVC I think is going to hold up better than wood is going to in the outside elements. I'll tell you what, here's what I would do is, they actually make some modular cabinets that are designed for outdoor kitchens and they're a great product. There are a number of different manufacturers that makes them and their design to actually be outside, to be exposed to the weather. It's aluminum or a galvalume metal construction. The cabinets come in different sizes and they're usually pretty reasonable. The cellulose PVC—cellular PVC is actually going to be more resistant to moisture than what wood is going to be, but as I said, I would probably go with one of the outdoor modular cabinets. They come in all different kinds of sizes and they're pretty reasonable. Jared Mellick and his father Ken Mellick are the owners of Central Florida’s premier construction company Universal Roof & Contracting, a family-run business which has been serving homeowners in the Greater Orlando area for nearly 20 years.
