The Hulk 2003 is said to be a film based on The Incredible Hulk. The screen play was written by Michael France, James Schamus and John Turma. Six people worked on the production of the film, Stan Lee, Avi Arad, James Schamus, Gale Anne Hurd, Larry J. Franco and Kevin Feige. The story was composed by James Schamus. The plot centers around David Banner, a genetics researcher who has figured out how to mutate human DNA to quickly heal wounds and diseases and his son Bruce who is also working in the same field and is known as the Hulk. David Banner wanted to use his knowledge to create powerful soldiers for the US military; however, the government denied his request. When his request is denied, he begins experimenting on himself. He realizes the consequences of self-experimentation when his son is born, as his son has the mutated DNA. David Banner tries to work to heal his son; however, the authorities catch on and shut him down. The government no longer wants Banner to continue with his dangerous experiments. Consequently, he blows up the lab in a fit of rage and tries to kill his son Bruce, then four years old at the time. When his wife tries to interfere Banner kills her. As a result, he is committed to a mental institution, and his son Bruce is placed in foster care and later adopted. While in foster care, Bruce is told that both of his parents are dead. Bruce does have some memories of his early childhood during the time when he is dreaming. When he wakes up, however, he cannot remember his dreams. It is not until later in his adult life when Bruce will run into his father again. Ironically, in Bruce's adult life, he pursues a similar career to his father. Graduating from University of California, Berkeley as a bionuclear researcher, he develops an interest in nanomeds and wants to build regenerating soldiers. It is at this point that his father enters his life by working as a janitor at the lab. Bruce's father tries to influence his son's work, and he later reveals to Bruce that he is his father. Shortly after they have been working together, their relationship grows sour. It is at this point that Bruce becomes enraged and transforms into the hulk for the very first time. Now, Bruce is under government scrutiny, and he must find a way to make things right and get himself out of danger. While contending with this, his father wants to absorb some of his power. The father of Betty Ross, Bruce's ex-girlfriend, is the main reason all the trouble started because it was he who launched the investigation on Bruce. Ross's father feared for his daughter's safety and wanted to have Bruce put away forever, she his daughter could no longer be around him. The Hulk did not do as well as was planned. Because of this, a reboot was made of the movie in 2008 known as The Incredible Hulk. The Incredible Hulk did much better.
