Being slightly to the north of the lively hub of Pattaya City is like being just over the fence from a fantastic party. Finding nice Naklua houses for sale means that you can choose to enjoy the party at any time as you are just minutes away, but you can also have tranquillity just as quickly. After Wong Amat beach, the madness seems to come to an abrupt end. There are practically no bars anywhere north of Pattaya’s North Road, where Naklua begins. This is despite the fact that this particular region is barely a five-minute ride from all the liveliness and activity on Beach Road. This puts Naklua in the enviable position of being quiet yet convenient. A paradise to which you can flee when you have had enough of the party, but which will not kill you with taxi costs. What is truly remarkable is that Naklua remains relatively undiscovered. The endless party that is Pattaya has continued to spread south, surmounting Pratumnak Hill and spreading into Jomtien like a contagion. The virus – in the form of extensive housing developments - has even spread as far as Najomtien, which is so far south of the Pattaya City houses that it is practically the next town over. At no point, though, has the building boom spread to the north. Naklua is mostly a Thai enclave in what is increasingly an expatriate’s city. While most of the population anywhere to the south of Wong Amat Beach is from anywhere in the world other than Thailand, Naklua has mostly resisted this. Given the ideal location and the impressive surroundings, this is quite a remarkable feat. Naklua’s coastline is just as attractive as anywhere else, though it is favoured more by fishing boats than speedboats. Further to the north is Sri Racha harbour, but that is a considerable distance away and does not serious impact Naklua in any way. There is no logical reason why Naklua should be practically unpopulated by expats, yet it appears to be so. Appearances, of course, can be deceptive. There are plenty of very attractive houses for sale and rent in Naklua and there is no shortage of potential customers from all over the world who are willing to take advantage of the location and the excellent prices available there. There are certainly few bars in and around Naklua, though, which is what makes it an area of sanctuary in an otherwise perpetual party. Perhaps that is why it attracts some expats and not others or perhaps that is why it has resisted all attempts to include it in the madness. Sometimes, you need a little sanctuary.
