One thing that looks really cool are new magnetic covers that are their innovative new “smart cover,” and this is something we can really call smart because it has a multi touch trackpad and a keyboard built-in:a Touch Cover with virtual keys and a Type Cover with a tactile keyboard and touchpad. Both of covers able to cover up and protect the front of the tablet but each of them with different abilities in their keys. The biggest difference between the two is the way the keys work – while the Type Cover has moving keys while the Touch Cover is capacitive instead . The Touch Cover is a super-thin (3mm) QWERTY keyboard that is integrated into the back case of the tablet itself. It attaches to the tablet via a magnetic connector, which Microsoft says forms "a natural spine like you find on a book, and works as a protective cover." A Microsoft engineer said that the keyboard comes with an accelerometer that tells the tablet when it is activate, and when it is folded into the back of the case. The Touch Cover will will be available in five colors, including black, blue, and hot pink. In addition to Touch Cover, Microsoft will release the Type Cover as shown below offers a classic typing experience for people who prefer a more traditional keyboard for typing. This is also a full QWERTY keyboard and it is 2mm thicker than the Touch Cover. But, it does is a slimmed down version of a true keyboard with actual moving keys. It also has a touch trackpad with two clickable buttons. Both covers will work with both of the two different devices, the Windows RT Surface and the Windows 8 Pro Surface, and both covers will be available for purchase as soon as the Windows RT device is released. Unfortunately, Microsoft didn’t reveal pricing or potential release dates, so we’ll have to stay tuned for the time being. As for release date, the company's press release says that we'll have to wait until the general release of Windows 8.You can read more about the Microsoft Surface at the new tablet's official website.
