It is finally summer. The kids are out of school and it is time to start planning your summer vacation. However, there are few things to consider when planning. Luisa Frey, who has been writing about family travel for 17 years and has been featured in numerous places, gives five tips for executing the perfect family vacation. Be careful with the length Whether you are going to a beach, amusement park, or a Park City hotel for your vacation the length of your trip is very important. Frey says seven days is ideal. She states the reason for this is because, if you have younger children, they need time to get used to their new surroundings. She also states that teens need a few more days to get used to spending so much quality time with family. Take care of teens and tot’s Frey mentions that if teens and babies aren’t happy, then nobody will be. Babies will cry and teen’s can become moody and hard to deal with. To ensure that everyone is happy, look after teens and toddlers first. Plan for your families pace Some families like to fill their vacations with activity after activity, they don’t like any downtime and everything has to be planned. Other families like their vacations to have a relaxed feel, they just go with the flow. Which ever family you are, pick a vacation that can meet that pace. Frey suggests that if you don’t like having things planned choose a beach vacation. Here, you family can relax and do things at your own pace. If you want to have an activity going at all times consider a Park City hotel or mountain vacation. At these places your family has numerous activities to keep you busy. Consider different forms of transportation Transportation depends a lot on your kids. For example, Frey says if you kids get motion sick long family road trips and cruises are a bad idea. However, if you are really wanting to take a family cruise talk to your child’s doctor about motion sickness patches and medicine. Airplanes are a good idea for kids who can stay calm and quite for a long period of time. Make sure the activities are age appropriate Wherever you go on vacation, make sure there is something for everyone. Frey stresses, as mentioned earlier, teens and tots need to be taken care of. So make sure wherever you go there is something for both. She mentions that amusement parks and beaches are good ideas. Amusement parks tend to have “kiddie” and adult rides. Also, at beach the toddlers can splash in the water and build sand castles while teens lay out and enjoy their music. For other ideas consider mountain vacations. At a Park City hotel there are lots of recreational activities nearby that are good for children and teens.
