Though affiliate marketing gives you the flexibility to work with just PC and internet and yet earn big commissions wherever and whenever you want, there are 5 critical mistakes you should avoid. Failure to do so could prevent you from earning and worse still, discourage you from affiliate marketing as a whole. 1. Get Rich Quick Mentality People failed in affiliate marketing due to 2 reasons. Firstly, the program is a scam. Despite following the instructions to the letter by watching the tutorial videos, reading ebooks and doing what they are told, they still cannot earn money or earn what they want consistently. The helpdesk support does not answer their doubts and enquiries promptly etc. Secondly, the program has been proven to work with previous members. But some people want to get rich quick by not doing anything and yet expect money to pour into their bank accounts at the push of a button like what you seen in many push button software offers out there. 2. Employee Mentality Despite having the flexibility in affiliate marketing, some people are simply not used to working on their own. I know because I used to be like them when I first do sales offline so I do not blame them entirely. In school, you are told by your teachers what to do, how to do and when to submit your work. The same applies to your workshop when your boss tells you the same thing. In both cases, you are being closely monitored by them when doing your work since you and your teacher or supervisor are in the same class or office. In affiliate marketing, it is entirely different. Everything is done online. So for those people - especially those who still are uncomfortable using computers and internet, they are not used to it. They prefer to have someone by their side hold their hands and guide them every step of the way. Though there are coaching programs to teach you internet marketing and have everything done for you, you still need to get out of your employee mentality if you ever want to succeed as an internetpreneur. 3. Not Giving Themselves Enough Time To Succeed Not giving themselves enough time to succeed is another reason why most people failed online. As I mentioned in the first point and like to mention again, this is not a get rich quick program. You are not going to make millions overnight. You are not even going to make your first $1000 in your month as a total newbie in affiliate marketing. You may not even make any money at all in your first month. This is precisely why your first month is absolutely critical for you to learn, understand and then implement. I myself took 1 year before achieving any breakthrough but that was through trial and error before I investing in the right affiliate marketing course that provides the right education and tools. Also affiliate marketing is not the race to the finish. Even though there may be contests in affiliate marketing programs on affiliate marketing, do not let them pressure you. Instead take your note to learn and focus on what needs to be done first. 4. Hopping From One Program To Another This is another reason why people failed. They joined one program, tried it out for a week or less and when they could not earn, they joined another program and the same cycle continued. The result was they kept buying one after another and still not earn a single cent. If that is you, you need to snap out of it. Find 1 right coaching program and stick to it until you achieve results consistently before moving to the next one. 5. Copy And Paste You may have this from many internet gurus when they launched their own products and affiliate programs. In the past, this may work. Unfortunately right now, this is no longer the case. The copy and paste I am referring to are articles, blog posts, classfied or PPC ads, press releases and even email swipes. Though you can save a lot of time copying and pasting, think about it this way. If tens of thousands of affiliates do this, there will be multiple sites with duplicate content which is exactly what Google trying to crack down with their Panda and Penguin updates. The same applies to posting articles, press releases and ads to relevant sites which will also apply the same rule to ensure unique and quality content for readers. Likewise, if I am sending the same emails like every affiliate out there to my subscribers, they will see them as a typical affiliate out to spam and make a quick buck rather than really helping them. Though rewriting everything will take a lot of time, it is still worth your effort and time. I rather spend time to write and earn long-term income rather than save time copying and getting penalized. If you do not want to do this, you can either outsource or take up relevant courses that will enable you to learn how to create unique content. Like article, blog and email marketing.
