There are certain words in all languages that are identified as onomatopoeic and it is a shame there are not many more of them. Teaching babies their very first words is often made easier with these words. The most obvious are animal associated words such as meow for a cat sound and grunt for a pig. Some other words may not be entirely onomatopoeic but they certainly convey a meaning just when said out aloud. For example there are words like sleazy which immediately conjure up an image of an unwashed and badly dressed unpleasant fellow. This character is likely to be wearing creepers which are yet another example of sleaze inspired images. A man can be called a creep which although coming from an ancient word to imply moving slowly up upon some person or something has now become more recognisable as a pretty damning insult. Every person remembers the creep at school. He or she was always the one who was never part of a gang or clique and consequently would creep up in the hope that they would not be noticed and would convince themselves that they were amongst friends. The type of shoe known as a creeper has always been associated with brothels since the days of the returning soldiers after the Second World War and an army issue desert boot. This type of shoe was essential footwear for the Teddy Boys of the Nineteen Fifties and any film with Elvis or James Dean will evoke images of these thick crepe soled shoes. Recently they have made a comeback and are much in fashion. It has to be said that it is rare for fashion and supreme comfort to come together but one look alone at these shoes in any online store will reveal how they achieve both these attributes. Certain boots and shoes can reveal a great deal about the wearer as a recent report on cowboy boots showed. Wearers of these boots will admit to a feeling of superiority and power when wearing these around the office and it is probably no surprise that there are many examples of this amongst American politicians, especially in the Republican Party. Power dressing was a term coined in the sixties and it particularly applied to business women keen to climb the corporate ladder. Black suits with snow white shirt and black tights and preferably stockings, along with high heels are used to convey a message of efficiency whilst not forgetting femininity. Before the feminists complain, it has to be said that ambitious men dress with the same attempts to convey masculinity along with efficiency. Creepers are just one type of shoe amongst the many different styles but they are of a type that can be worn with a suit as easily as with jeans and still reflect well. The powerful politician wears cowboy boots to give self-confidence but let’s face it; they look ridiculous with shorts whereas these can be worn with anything.
