There are many benefits to becoming a bodybuilder, including having a great body, having a lot of energy and being healthy. It's easy to go into a state similar to meditation when you are concentrating on your workout. This is great for your mental health. The body needs different nutrients for different things, which is why you should always eat for what you are about to do. Always remember to eat a high carbohydrate meal an hour or so before you plan to do an intense workout, whether it's whole body training or cardio, so you body has the energy it needs to complete the training. However, at bedtime you want to skimp on the carbs. If you eat a lot of carbs, your body will trigger insulin, which is the fat storing hormone. You want your body to be burning your stored fat for fuel, not saving it for later. This doesn't mean you should eliminate them completely but stick to non-starchy vegetables. For the most efficient fat burning tactic if you are using cardio training to rid your body of excess body fat, make sure you do your cardio first thing in the morning before you eat any additional carbs. Let you body use the fat already stored in your fat cells. The reason to do your cardio in the morning before you eat any carbs is that your body will then be forced to use your stored body fat for fuel for your workout.

Alcohol is a no go if you're serious about getting a six pack. It doesn't get stored as fat on your body, however it is metabolized in a way similar to carbs, and it then becomes fuel for your body. What does this mean? It means that the fat you are trying to shift to get rid of that soft look will happily stay where it is until all the alcohol is used up. Two other great reasons to avoid alcohol are that several studies have found that alcohol acts as a suppressant on the libido as well as the loss of muscle strength. By drinking you're simply wasting all of your progress for the week, is it really worth it? However, if you are very determined to get ripped you will not consume any alcoholic beverages.

Doing too much, or overtraining, is a common mistake made by those new to bodybuilding. They want to get as big as possible as quickly as possible, so they throw everything they have at their workouts. However, overtraining can cause a significant number of problems, including injury and the loss of motivation.

What happens next is that any gains that they may have made will be lost because they will be unable to work out or won't want to after a certain point. They are simply pushing past the point that their body can handle. Rest, just like working out, is all part of the process of proper weight lifting and bodybuilding. 45 minute workouts, along with one day of rest a week, will allow you to avoid overtraining during this process.

Bodybuilding is likely to steadily increase in popularity, mainly due to the health benefits it offers, including improved stress management and a higher level of resistance to various diseases.
