LED lighting is much better than traditional lighting like incandescent bulbs or halogen lamps and there are a number of reasons for that. LEDs consume just a fifth of the normal power consumed by traditional bulbs and lamps. Therefore, LED lights have a much better power efficiency when compared to other lighting solutions. And since they have longer life spans, they last almost 30 times longer than incandescent bulbs and halogen lamps. LED lamps are a greener alternative to normal lights, since they are more energy efficient than traditional lighting solutions. Their light output may not be as high as fluorescent lamps, but they are likely to achieve that goal eventually. The heat generated by LED lamps during operation is extremely low. Since LEDs inherently come in a variety of different colors, they can be used for decorative lighting. There is neither the need to change the color of the emitted light nor to use colored lenses, as LEDs emit light in different specific colors naturally. LEDs do not contain toxic substances like mercury which is typically used in fluorescent lamps. They do not produce harmful radiation in the infrared or ultraviolet wavelengths either. Therefore, they are extremely eco-friendly. LEDs are by nature waterproof. They can be used in all kinds of weather as they are very resilient. The rate of deterioration of LEDS is very low. An LED lamp would experience a drop in light intensity only by about 2% over the first 1000 hours of use. A LED light typically attains its full brightness hundreds of times faster than a conventional light bulb. Since LEDs are much more noticeable in the dark, many vehicle manufacturers are choosing LEDs for their blinkers or indicators.
