We're probably entering some sort of dangerous territory here, however it has to be done for the sake of debate - we're going to name the best footballers in the world. Gerd Muller The amazingly pace ridden German has to be in the top five of our greatest footballers of all time. With a goal scoring record like his, who could ever dispute his place. With an amazing 68 goals in 62 internationals, 365 in 427 German League games and an international record of 66 in 74 European Football games, Muller was the highest scoring player of his day and didn't even look like a footballer. Short, squat and a little strange looking, he didn't have an amazing top speed, but could accelerate over 10 yards past anyone and was an amazing winner of the ball in the air. He also could turn on a penny, as they say and as you can see from the record was an amazingly instinctive goal scorer. Maradona The little Argentinean brings a smile to many faces and is seen as a loveable rogue by some, while disdained by others. Maradona however is a player who undoubtedly has to be in everyone's list of their greats. His fame comes before him, for example his 1970 World Cup winning jersey was sold for nearly quarter of a million dollars in 2002 and he is just renowned as one of the greats. We will have to wait if the likes of Lionel Messi can surpass, Pele and others and in time it will be more than likely the little Argentinean is appearing on every list throughout the world - only time will tell.
