You have probably heard of conference calls, and may wonder what services are available and how they can help your company. Organizations from small businesses to global enterprises have been trying out conference calling. This article presents in context the different services available to businesses today, and explains what to look for as well as what to look out for. Firms function very differently now that conference calls are possible. The existence of this service means that a chief executive can run his corporation from whatever country he happens to be in. Customers, colleagues, and co-owners can converse without having to meet in a single location, and travel and meeting expenses are notably reduced. Audio conference calling, video conferencing, and web conferencing are the most popular types of conference calling available today. The most widely used variety of these is called audio conferencing. This type of teleconference is widely used because of its familiarity and this helps save the company money. Since this requires only a telephone, this is the easiest form. The only hitch in this type of service that companies find is that they are neither able to see the person they are taking to nor are able to receive any images or data during the conference. The most recently innovated of the three types is web conferencing. In this type, a webcam is used to display the conference on the internet. The greatest advantage of this type of conference is that every body in the conference is able to transmit files, images, or data instantly so that everybody else in the conference can see them. The most important feature of web conference is that one gets the advantages of both audio and video conferencing also one gets the facility of sharing data at once. The third type of conference service is video conferencing. More so than the above two conferencing forms, this type is the most costly. This is on account of the infrastructure costs, which further limit the usage of such type to large business facilities. With the advances in technology, the overall cost of implementing video conferencing has reduced, thereby enabling smaller establishments to make use of this service. Unfortunately, many establishments still avoid using from this teleconferencing tool. Since using this service requires every member participating in this conference to have a television and also to have a camera at his end, this enables everyone in the conference to not only hear the other person but also be able to view the images them. However this service is still fairly expensive. Video conferencing is cost-effective only if there are frequent meetings, and there can be some persistent troubles with installing and maintaining the infrastructure.
