Fans were both delighted and puzzled that One Tree Hill was renewed for a fifth season, but more puzzled when it was announced that the series would be jumping four years into the future, meaning that it'll come back with the gang having graduated from college. There was a lot of fan speculation, and some weren't even confident with the revamped show. Many questioned the nature of the show, if it would be the same as before, or will it cater to a mature audience than their current fan base. So far, there's been three episodes aired and fans seem to have mixed reactions about it. Surely, there are a few elements that we do like, and a bunch of other we don't like. Let's start with those that we do like. First of all, we adore Jamie Scott. For some, kids aren't fun to watch in a coming of age show, but we'll have to disagree on this one. Jackson Brundage, who plays Nathan and Haley's four year old son, is just so adorable that we'd want to squeeze him through our television screens. It's also heartwarming how the Tree Hill gang adopted him as one of their own, as it has been one of the best moments in this season. There are also the new jobs for each of the characters. It is nice to see most of them landing jobs that are totally true to their personality. It is pleasantly fitting to see Lucas as the new coach of the Ravens team and Haley landing a teaching gig, as it reminds us of where they all began, and the dreams they wanted to reach. Daphne Zuniga is another pleasant face on the series, as it turns out she plays Brooke's mother, Victoria, who also turns out to be the CEO of Clothes Over Bros. The former Melrose Place star fits into the role perfectly. Of course, there are some other things which fall under the not so likeable category, and these include the missing adults. Just because the show matured, that's not supposed to mean that the older generation should be kicked out of the picture. Bringing them back for more mature interaction would be great. The other new characters also seem to be a nuisance more than a plot stimulator. Maybe revamping them a bit would do the show more justice. Lastly, there's Nathan, who's stuck to a wheelchair and whining about his basketball career, or the lack thereof. That's basically it. The fact that he's whining and in a wheelchair is kind of annoying to watch. He should probably stop doing that by the fourth episode and get a grip on himself and change for the better. So far, this new season is good, and hopefully would get better as it progresses.
