Fancy a Luxury Break? Go Ahead and GrabOne

Business

Many of us are feeling the pain of the recession and having to work longer hours just to make ends meet. It will come as no surprise then that research has found that 60 per cent of Irish professionals are working longer hours than previously agreed with their employers.

Therefore, it's more important than ever that we make the most of our well-earned leisure time, and fantastic value daily deals from websites such as GrabOne can help put upon employees to do just that.

The timely survey, by recruitment consultancy Robert Walters and reported at StaffingIndustry.com, found that 60 per cent of the 600 Irish professionals asked worked in excess of their contracted 40 hours per week, on a regular basis. This shows a marked increase of six per cent on figures from 2010.

It goes to follow that, with the majority of us putting in extra long hours, that there's more of a need than ever to take the time to get away from it all and allow yourself to relax on holiday. Unfortunately however, work commitments make a week or two away an impossible prospect for many.

A short break is a fantastic compromise and even just one night away from home can allow you the space you need to relax and revitalise yourself. Of course, there's a limit to how far you can go when time is short. No one wants to add the hassle of travel and traffic to what is supposed to be a pleasurable break, but it's perfectly possible to benefit from a great change of scenery without travelling far.

It may sound odd, but even a one night stay in your nearest city can offer an amazing opportunity to relax and enjoy some space and time away from the daily grind. Often the act of getting away from home instantly puts us in a different frame of mind, and provides the perfect excuse to forget those mounting household chores and resist the temptation to catch up on work in your precious leisure time.

You'll also benefit from luxurious surroundings, and the time and freedom to explore a city that you may only ever see when rushing to or from work.

Alternatively, look at nearby cities, coastal towns and countryside beauty spots that appeal to you and vow to head off on a mission of exploration at the weekend. Just because you're not boarding a plane doesn't mean that your break will be any less interesting, exciting or restorative.

D3ALS.ie can help you to find the best deals on mini-breaks and overnight stays in Ireland, with luxury hotels and gourmet restaurants galore. Check there for fantastic offers from GrabOne and more, including Groupon, Living Social and kgb deals. Here's an example of a recent, great value GrabOne deal, so you know what to look out for on the easy to use D3ALS website:

A two night stay for two in the luxurious Four Star Jackson Hotel in Donegal, with breakfasts and evening meals included, for just 120 Euros. This hotel is a fantastic mixture of modern and traditional, and the coastal/countryside location is simply stunning. You can enjoy invigorating walks along the beach, ride horses through the beautiful countryside or surf in the bracing sea - all of which are sure to blow away the cobwebs and revitalise you ready for another busy working week.

If you'd prefer to hole up indoors and enjoy simply doing very little all weekend then the Jackson Hotel has a wide range of facilities to aid you. Swim in the pool, relax in the Jacuzzi, get rid of your stresses in the gym or allow yourself to be pampered with a massage or beauty treatment - and try to put all thoughts of work out of your mind.

Many of us have no choice in working excessively long hours. Job instability means that we need to look committed to our positions and existing job cuts have resulted in an increase in many workloads.

However, we do have a choice in how we spend our precious leisure time, and any way in which we can maximise its benefits are most welcome.

Getting away from it all, even just for one night, is a great way to avoid burn out and make sure that your productivity at work doesn't suffer. And the great thing about daily deals is that they offer exceptional value for money, so you can afford to get away as often as possible.
