There are quite a few email list building tips out there. Some are pointless; they won’t really affect your email list building, and usually they’ll just waste your time and money. There are, however, a few tips out there to help. These tips are both free, and very much not a waste of your time. They’re simple, and in many cases, easy enough to do that it won’t take you more than five or ten minutes to fix your email list. When you’re looking at these email list building tips, keep in mind that they’re guidelines, not hard and fast rules: there are situations where these tips don’t apply. So, in the interest of brevity, let’s get on to the first tip. The First email list building tip: The first of these tips is rather simple, but something that many often overlook. That is, we’re going to look at who we’re actually putting on our email list. When you put the wrong people on your list, you’re throwing money down the drain: they won’t even look at your emails, and your marketing will go nowhere. Instead, when you consider the right audience for your emails, you’ll be much better served, in terms of marketing. You can order people by interests, demographics, or by the source of their information: no matter how you do it, just make sure that you’re doing it in a way that makes sense: names, for instance, have no bearing here. The Second email list building tip: Now that you’ve a nice list of people for your list, you want to think about what you’re sending them. You don’t want to suffocate them with information or media: your audience can hear, don’t shout at them, simply speak to them. The copy you send out is as important as who you send it to: if it’s engaging, and well written, you’re much more likely to see a return on your investment. If it’s poorly written and brash, ugly with bad graphics, you’re not likely to see any sort of return at all. The decisions you make here can cost your business hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, so keep all of these facts in mind. By keeping these things in mind, you’re sure to see a return on your email advertising. These email list building tips aren’t hard and fast rules, though; don’t focus so much on the exact wording of what I’ve said, but why I’ve said it. Keep your audience in mind when you create your copy, and market it to the correct audience. If you do those two things, you’re ensured success, no matter how you advertise or your product. Conversely, if you don’t, you’re risking your entire email advertising budget on a gamble: poor business procedure indeed. Business decisions you make now, even when just building your email lists, can have major ramifications five, ten, even fifteen years down the road.
