You can be afflicted by debt of your father if a planet is in the 9th house and Mercury is located in the sign of that planet. Hence Mercury is responsible for creating this type of debt. DEBT OF THE FATHER If Jupiter is not in the pakka houses i.e. 2nd, 5th, 9th or 12th and is located either in the 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th or 10th house and the pakka house of Jupiter is occupiedby Mercury, Venus, Rahu or Ketu then a native may be afflicted with the debt of the father.
