All You Need to Know About Beef Steaks

It may seem a simple question, but what is a beefsteak? It is basically a roasted slice of beef. Beef is what we call the meat from a cow. Steak is an Old Norse term meaning roast. When people say "steak": about all of them are referring to a "beef steak". It is thus easy to see how the word steak is connected to beef. It automatically refers to beefsteak, yet people today use terms like pork steak or lamb steak, and some will even refer to things such as a venison steak or a swordfish steak. However, keep in mind that if only the word steak is used, it almost always referred to beef steak.

Chances are that you already know what a beef steak tastes like, or maybe at the very least experienced how good they smell when a neighbor or friend has a barbecue in their yard. Beef steaks are a staple of family gatherings and it is all but guaranteed there will always be someone - often a father or an uncle - more than happy to cook on the trusted grill. Don't be confused. A cut of uncooked cow's meat and its already cooked counterpart are referred to by the same name: a beefsteak.

So now you have an interest and appetite for roasting or grilling beefsteak and you realize there is a grill in your backyard just waiting to be used. The next step is learning how best to cook the meat. It is a rather easy process because by simply searching the Internet you will find a wealth of recipes for cooking beef steaks online. These methods often focus on marinating and garnishing the meat and they are worth trying with Kobe steaks.

The cooking and preparation of beef steaks varies from country to country. In the Balkan region, a popular marinade is made from vegetable oil, vinegar, pepper and mustard in which the meat is left to marinate in for as long as one week. The beef is then fried in butter and served on top of slices of toast that soak up the drippings. It can be garnished with parsley and topped with fried egg. In Italy, beef steaks are served simply with a salad. In France they are commonly accompanied by French fries.

In the United States, beef steaks are extremely popular and restaurants specializing in this delicacy are called a steakhouse. American beef steaks are often served with mashed potatoes, beans and rice or pasta. They are also accompanied sometimes with delicacies such as cooked lobster tail and shrimp, and sided with small servings of vegetables or fruit salad.

On the whole, roasting steaks requires you to have a few simple tools such as a reliable roasting pan, a carving knife, a carving fork, a carving board, and of course, a good heat source for cooking.
