On the one hand the government of Salamanca has taken pains to preserve and maintain this beautiful building and on the other hand, it has allowed some café, restaurant, shops in the traditional Spanish style around the building. Old Cathedral: This beautiful Romanseque cathedral has San Martin Chapel which is believed to have been built in 13th century. A new cathedral has also been built just by the side of the old cathedral building. This majestic building which has been liberally decorated with masterpiece works of arts and many paintings from some of the renowned artisans.
