The development of EMR for medical practices had gradually improved the efficacy of healthcare services all over the modern world. It is currently pushed today to be used in all larger healthcare institutions to make full use of its capability to augment healthcare services. What is an EMR? An EMR system, such as an orthopedic emr, is a system developed by different companies to replace the use of paper-based medical records to easily and conveniently stores, retrieve, and modify a medical record. However, EMR’s full capability far exceeds its initial use. Today, EMR is used for a variety of different purposes. One is that it can ultimately eliminate the kinds of medical error commonly associated with paper-based medical records. Advantages Eliminate Medical Errors According to many medical experts, handwritten medical records are commonly associated with most medical errors. Pre-printed forms, the standardization of abbreviations, and standards for penmanship were encouraged to improve reliability of paper medical records. Electronic records help with the standardization of forms, terminology and abbreviations, and data input. Digitization of forms facilitates the collection of data for epidemiology and clinical studies. Medical Support System Another important factor that made EMR systems integral is because of its own decision support system. The implementation of electronic health records (EHR) can help lessen patient sufferance due to medical errors and the inability of analysts to assess quality. EMR systems can help reduce medical errors by providing healthcare workers with decision support. By providing faster access to medical literature and current best practices in medicine, EMR systems can relatively improve healthcare efficacy. Cost-Efficiency Another important factor that made EMR systems important is because it can significantly reduce the amount of budget commonly used for storing paper-based medical records. According to many medical experts and to the pain management emr in the US, it is a standard in the US that medical records are stored for 7yrs. Though for smaller healthcare institution, storing small numbers of medical records can be easily kept within the institution’s premises, larger healthcare institutions would usually have to rent more storage spaces to store their medical records. The use of EMR systems had significantly reduced the amount of cost used for storing these medical records by converting these into digital information which can be stored within a digital storage, such as a hard disk drive, which can be also be stored within a server room inside the institution’s premises
