The Blackberry Playbook is classified as a Tablet device due to its design and features that it supports. There are several other Tablet devices manufactured by different corporations in the market today that are direct competitors to the Playbook. Some of these tablets include the Apple iPad, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, the Dell Streak and the HP Slate. All these tablets have several differences as well as similarities in terms of their functions, content design, and support for several applications among others. BlackBerry PlayBook features can only be compared with other tablet features by mentioning their features one by one. The screen size of the tablet PC is one of these features and the Playbook is 7 inches, the same as the Galaxy Tab, the iPad is 9.7 inches, the Dell Streak is 5 inches while the Hp Slate is 8.9 inches. The screen resolution is also another feature that can be used to compare these tablets. The Playbook, the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Hp Slate have the same screen resolution of 1024 by 600 while the Apple iPad has a resolution of 1024 by 768 and lastly the Dell Streak has a 800 by 480 resolution. The pixel density of these tablets is also very important and here the Dell streak has the highest with 187 followed by the Playbook and the Galaxy tab at 170 followed by the iPad at 133 while the HP Slate has not been determined. One of the most important aspects of looking at any Tablet will be the benefits of the operating system that it is running. BlackBerry PlayBook apps will depend on the OS and in this case the Playbook runs on Blackberry Tablet OS, the iPad runs on the iOS 3.2.2 or 4.2, the Galaxy tab on Androide 2.2, the Dell Streak on Android 1.6 or 2,2 and the HP Slate on Windows 7. The processors of each of these tablets are listed as 1 GHz dual core Cortex A9 for the Playbook, 1 GHz Apple A4 (ARMv7) for the iPad, I GHz Cortex A8 for the Galaxy Tab, 1 GHz Snapdragon for the Dell Streak and 1 GHz Atom for the HP Slate. The RAM is indicated as 1 GB for the Playbook, 256 MB for iPad, 512MB for Galaxy Tab, 512MB for Dell Streak and the capacity for HP Slate is not known. The weight of the tablet is also very important with the Playbook weighing 0.9lbs, iPad 1.6lbs, Glaxy tab 0.84lbs, Dell Streak 0.49lbs while the Hp slate has not been confirmed.
