This summer everyone is going to want to be in their garden, so make sure you keep yours in good health. There are lots of things that you can do to improve your garden and any gardening steps you take will make spending time in your garden a more pleasurable experience. Firstly, make sure that your plants and lawn are looking as perfect as possible. There’s lots of things you can do to ensure that you get the best growth possible from your plants. If you find that your plants aren’t growing well, it could be due to your soil. Most people have soil which is either acid or alkaline, which means that certain types of plants with thrive in the soil. Organic Compost will help to maintain the nutrients in your soil. You can find out what the PH of your soil is by using a PH tester kit. They’re reasonably pr iced and easy to find in any good garden centre or online. Once you have found out how acid or alkaline your soil is you can then choose plants that thrive in your type of soil, or you can treat the soil to improve the PH balance. This can include adding things like lime to make the soil more alkaline if it is too acid, or adding a rich compost to improve the overall quality. If you want a lush green lawn then don’t be tempted to over water it. Too much watering can lead to water logging which will actually impede the growth of your grass. It’s also important that you water your lawn at the right time of day. Early morning is the best time. If you water your lawn when the sun is at its hottest it can cause the grass to scorch. Similarly, if you water in the evenings when the ground has had all day to warm up, the combination of water and warm earth creates an ideal breeding ground for mould and fungus to thrive.
