In 2007, Image Works announce that it will be working with George Eastman House in producing a photo gallery that shall encompass historic and contemporary photos made from film and digital photography. Image Works is an editorial stock photography company in New York. Meanwhile, George Eastman House is the oldest photography museum dating from 1949. This collaborating venture is destined to be a very huge success for the two. Image Works is positive that it will be the best and most exquisite collection of photos that will serve as a time capsule for all the best photographs in the world as well as the showcase of evolution of the craft of taking photos. According to company president Mark Antman, the Image Works will be concentrating on the black and white historical photos that George Eastman House keeps in their gallery. The Eastman House has over 400,000 photographic prints, transparencies and negatives which can be traced back from the time when photography and camera was invented. Needless to say, the George Eastman House is the oldest gallery which contains hundreds of years old photo from times when most of us were not yet born.The photos they are keeping are the collective work of 14,000 photographers who used the different and evolving techniques in capturing images. Moreover, it contains the oldest daguerrotypes in the world which happens to be the oldest and the very first commercially successful type of photo printing through silvered copper plates. In the next six to ten months, Image Works headed by Mark Antman, plans to include a selection of these Eastman photos in their own collection in order to create an archive that will serve as a timeline of vintage to contemporary images which were so carefully selected by the George Eastman House. George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film is a natural historic landmark and the world’s leading collector of films and photography with the stately pleasures of the Colonial Revival mansion and gardens that served home to George Eastman House from 1905 to 1932. It owner, George Eastman, was also the founder of Eastman Kodak Company. He was known as the father of modern photography and inventor of motion picture film. Likewise, Image Works is also a reputable company based on New York, which like George Eastman House, was founded in order to serve archive and of service to people in showcasing imagery of highest standard.
