Mike loved Zalinda. Everyone in the family knew he loved her. Yet when the police showed up, because Zalinda was found dead in her apartment, no one in the family was surprised. Mike supposedly was on a three week business trip for the law firm. However the firm where my brother was employed told the authorities that Mike had resigned a month ago.. When the police questioned my mother about Mike’s whereabouts, I wasn’t overly concerned, until the detective informed us that they had a warrant for my brother's arrest. It was at that moment, that all the pieces of the puzzle suddenly came together. Mike had been acting strange for about six months. I had wondered for months what my only brother had been up to. Now I knew. Once the police left, our house, I carefully informed my mother that we would probably never see Mike again. Mike and Zalinda had started dating in high school, and continued their relationship throughout college and even into law school. Yet, they had never married. The word on campus was, Zalinda was bi-sexual and had strung Mike alone for the ride. Mike never let on about his personal feelings, yet I knew something was bothering him. His personality was geared towards revenge. Cold, calculated, manipulated, revenge. He was the sweetest guy on earth until you crossed him. Everyone in the family knew about the flaw in his personality. In fact, everyone from the church’s minister to the school psychologist had warned my mother about Mike’s behavior. For some strange reason, Zalinda didn’t get the memo. I am Mikea, Mike's twin sister. My brother had helped Zalinda through college, law school and the difficult bar exam, and believed that one day, they would be married. The rumors, that she had used him and laughed about their relationship with friends was true. As it turns out Mike had caught Zalinda in a compromising position with another woman. His suspensions and the rumors about her sexuality had been confirmed, according to Mike’s journal. Mike mailed his personal journal to me and my mother after he had been gone about six weeks.. He wanted us to understand why he had disappeared. He warned us that the location where he mailed the package, was not his final destination. A note within the journal instructed us to turn the journal over to the authorities, or we could be charged with aiding and abiding a criminal. Mike had written on a separate sheet, which I knew better than to give to the police, how he had killed his high school sweetheart. Being a twin, Mike understood that I needed to know exactly what happened. They had been out of law school for two years before Mike’s evil plan unfolded. He hadn’t wanted to believe the rumors, nor what his own eyes had seen, during their last year of law school. Zalinda had always been very particular about her looks. Makeup had been a part of her everyday ritual, even in high school. Mike had taken advantage of her vanity and placed an anthrax, type powder, in her makeup without her knowledge. The poison seeped into Zalinda’s pours and the results had been fatal. Mike hadn’t gone into details with the particulars, but he did say he had taken the necessary precautions, not to be hurt by his own evil plot. The autopsy was not conclusive on how or what had killed her, yet they ruled her death a homicide.
