To start with let us understand prong setting, which also known as claw setting, usually has 3, 4 or 6 prongs with six prong setting being the most secure one. This type of setting requires less labor and material but more often than not used for bigger diamonds. This is one of the classic settings. Bezel setting, a low cost setting, has a metal rim encircling the diamond and the only top surface of the diamond can be seen. Semi bezel setting is a laborious setting and is a combination of prong and bezel providing better visualization of the diamond. Next comes channel setting used to set a number of small diamonds or gemstones. In this case the diamonds being smaller will be cheaper but the setting is somewhat costly. Pave setting though differs channel setting also is used when there are number of smaller sized stones but expensive in terms of setting as it requires too much labor which also depends on the design. The flush setting also demands intensive labor but is comparatively less expensive. Bar setting is more or less expensive because the quality of diamonds needed in this setting has to be of higher quality while the invisible setting is the priciest necessitating adept skill and significant amount of time and effort.
