It would be quite confusing when you make a search for the right web host with all the advertisements littering the internet today. You would be astounded at the number of packages with almost similar offers and claims that you would have a difficult time determining which one would provide the best services for your site. In order to gain some amount of internet visibility and traffic for the website, you really have no other choice but to search and compare the different hosting companies. The primary consideration of the choice should be the needs of the website. Some would be interested in the operating system used in the server whether it is Linux or Windows based because there are features used in the development that might not be compatible with the operating system of the server. It is also necessary for the server host to have an updated web programming language that is constantly improved and developed that will be compatible with the website. If the site was developed using the code of a newer version, uploading the site in the hosts’ older version might result in some errors in the web pages. Another important factor is the kind of website that was developed, if it is a personal website or a business website. A personal website means the family websites where pictures and videos are uploaded for the other family member’s appreciation. This does not really need a lot of disk space and bandwidth. Another example is the blogging sites that similarly requires minimum amount of space and bandwidth. These sites can be hosted through the free or cheap web hosting services. If the idea for the website is for business, the web host must be able to accommodate online ordering, stock control and the ability to change or edit product categories. These features can be found in the shopping cart. Online businesses also make use of varied scripts to handle the additional features of mailing lists, automated email response, integrated online payment systems and processing. It is also very important that uptime of 99.9% is guaranteed because the success of an online business is highly dependent upon this factor. If the potential consumer finds a difficult time in accessing the site from the browser of his own computer, then it would be possible that the competition would profit from the sale. Hence, it becomes very important that the web host is able to provide all these features for a successful website.
