The right way to Always Succeed At Solitaire.

Entertainment,Hobbies,Recreation & Leisure
When I began playing solitaire I had mistakenly thought it was a very easy game to play. It is an easy game to play, however it is extremely difficult to master. I could never get a round completed and often became frustrated because it is such a simple game yet why could I never actually complete it?

It was not long before I started reading and learning a few strategies to improve my solitaire playing skills. Believe it or not, there is a lot of skill involved in mastering the game of Solitaire, it is not all just about luck (though that plays a big part too). To start learning these strategies it is important to know the terms used when playing solitaire. Starting with the "Foundation", this is the area of cards towards the top of the game where you place your cards in suited sets, from Ace through to king. Once all foundations are filled this way the game is complete. Next you have the "Columns", the seven stacks of cards that have one exposed and the rest hidden. This is where you will be "Working" by moving the exposed cards around to make bigger stacks and expose other cards. Finally there is the "Stockpile" which is the remaining cards downturned in a pile. When no more moves are left in the working Columns or Foundation, you turn over a card from the stockpile.

Let us look at a few tips that you will no doubt find helpful on your journey to mastering the game of solitaire.

Firstly, the stockpile cards should always be a last resort. Work very hard to move around and expose as many cards in the working areas before resorting to turning out a stockpile card. As much as possible, save those for as long as possible.

Whenever a card can fit into one of the foundations, place it there. Even if it means you cannot continue building down a stack you are working, it is best to place it into the foundation if possible. Remember, you can take cards out of the foundation and put them back when needed, however you cannot expose a card that is blocked, and you cannot remove cards from within the stacks (you can only take the end card).

Work with the columns for so long as feasible prior to coming in contact with the stockpile of playing cards, because it is just a little trickier to uncover playing cards hidden within the column than cards inside the stockpile.

Try and work with your columns as much as possible. Sometimes moving around piles from one column to another is neccessary so as not to dip into the stockpile.

With clear columns, you can place an exposed card and start a fresh column. This is a big help and it is important to get a column cleared as quick as possible so we can use the extra space straight away.

When confronted with a choice between placing a card in a column or in a foundation, choose the foundation first. You are able to transfer playing cards down again into your columns when necessary, however it is more complicated to discover playing cards in columns.

Try and keep your options open. If you have a choice of where to put certain cards, it will help to get more cards exposed. If there is ever a choice between building out a column or foundation, and exposing a card, choose the expose a card.

And one final tip is;

If at first you dont succeed, keep trying! Not only does it take time to master the game of solitaire, believe it or not there is also a lot of strategy involved. Any game that requires you to think a few moves ahead needs a good level of memory. Although the game is easy and anyone can play, for those that dont like loosing and having to redeal the deck, it truly can be a captivating and skillful game to master!

After a Hard Days work why not unwind with a game of Online Solitaire. Hellen Freys Free Fun Games website has many puzzles and cool games such as Spider Solitaire.
