New TV for Christmas - Here's what to look for TVs Winter eradicates the chances of most outdoor entertainments in Ireland and so we've to find something else to do. Fortunately, the TV was invented by John Logie Baird, who possibly saw the need for something other than the dour Scottish weather to entertain. Ireland's daily deals sites often have excellent value on the old television on offer for the winter, so what should you be looking out for if you are looking to invest in some entertainment for the coming months? HDTV There are a number of factors to do with high definition television. Some TVs offer a HD ready set, whereas others are full HD. HD ready was an intermediate step and is not full HD. It displays images at 720p and is more suitable for DVD use. However it lacks the quality of Full HD. When looking for a set it is better to plump up the slight bit of extra money for a Full HD set. This means you can use it to full specification and it is suitable to get the best possible picture quality for HD Freeview or Sky HD. These is a noticeable difference in the picture quality between both formats and the Full HD is not much more costly. BluRay and DVD The difference between BluRay and DVD is the same as the difference between HD TV and HD Ready TV. The BluRay disk offers four to six times the quality of picture of that of the DVD. As well as this it offers better sound and also a number of other pluses. BluRay is capable of 7.1 sound, whereas the DVD quality is capable of five channels or 5.1 sound. This once again means that the latter offers a better quality of audio than DVD and should be the opted for format when purchasing disks or downloading films. 3D TV There are also two different kinds of 3D TV for people who are looking to invest in the sets this Christmas. Ireland deals are offering a number of these sets for 3D use, however there is a difference between the passive 3D and active 3D options. LG sets tend to use the former, which fundamentally stretches two layers over each other to create depth. This halves the definition, however isn't that obviously poor in quality. Active 3S is different to this. Active uses glasses with batteries, which adjust the 3D through the glasses and not using the TV. This is a higher quality option - though not by much and the glasses are more expensive - up to £100 a pair. This makes the passive option very attractive in a number of ways and is the reason why many opt for the cheaper and nearly just as good option with their daily deals. 60Hz or 100Hz We often see these numbers beside a TV when we're going to buy a set. So, what significance do they have if you're looking for deals Ireland? Well this number corresponds to the amount of times a TV refreshes or in layman's terms how many frames it shows per second. A TV with 60Hz dos this 60 times a second and one with 100Hz does it 100 times a second. So, what effect does this have? Well, on fast moving scenes or for sports, where images move at a quick rate, having a TV that refreshes more times makes the movement and motion of the set seem that bit smoother. This creates a better flowing image. Some TVs suggest they can create 500Hz images this is not so and involves processing power to give an artificial refresh rate. This does have its benefits, however it is not real and cannot be truly achieved naturally at the moment. Following this advice should see you make sure you get the basics right when purchasing a TV.
