CNC machining as the name suggests stands for Computer Numerical Control Machining. CNC machining is a method of controlling machine tools to create sometimes basic and sometimes very complicated parts that can be used in almost any industry. A hob or shaper cutter is usually used to cut these Gears. The prime way of cutting a gear in Computer Numerical Control Machining is hobbing. Being a generating process, Hobbing gradually removes the metal to take out gear teeth. Various kinds of gear hobs are used for Gear cutting like Involute Gear Hob, Involute Spline, Sprocket Hobs, Worm Wheel Hobs, Serration Hobs etc. These Hobs being different in nature play varied tasks used in their respective places. Fabrication: As the name itself says it's a manufacturing process wherein an item is created from raw or semi- finished materials instead of readymade components being used. It is another component of Computer Numerical Control Machining which is commonly used for all operations done on comparatively thin plates. Stating an example, in a metal filling cabinet where all major components are made of steel sheets, shearing to size is done. Holes are punched, finally for getting these sheets into shape they are bent and converted. All these operations performed come under fabricating. process of Computer Numerical Control Machining.
