The Paranormal Activity franchise returns with a third dose of ghostly goings-on in this prequel to a prequel that treads much the same path as its predecessors, but does so with style, panache and some very effective scares. Click Here To Download Paranormal Activity 3 full version movie in hd quality Following a brief prologue that takes place in 2006 and reintroduces us to Katie and Kristi – the troubled sisters of the first two films – the action then travels back in time to Santa Rosa in 1988 where me meet them as little girls. The pair live with their mother and her partner, who just happens to be a wedding videographer (what is it with these people and cameras?) and so the early action revolves around his shooting a birthday party, exploring their new home and experimenting with filmmaking in the bedroom. But then something paranormal goes bump in the night. “It’s a new house – it shouldn’t be making these noises” he complains, and so sets up several cameras throughout the home to get to the bottom of the mystery, the first in a long line of contrivances that allow the movie to utilise the “found footage” device of the first two flicks. Indeed, from here-on-in, the film steadfastly follows the pattern of parts one and two, with the day-time footage revolving around arguments and rising tensions within the house, and the night-time video static shots punctuated by the paranormal, making your eyes dart around the frame as you endeavour to second-guess the next scare. As ever, it’s a slow build, the early frights simple but effective – a spot of dust moving here, a mirror shuddering there; the film’s excellent sound design and reliance on loud bangs once again serve their purpose. But as the two girls start to interact with Toby – an unseen apparition off camera – the proceedings take a truly sinister turn. And when an innocent game of Bloody Mary turns nasty, all hell really does break loose, making for the most sustained period of terror in the franchise thus far, and building to a terrifying conclusion that truly makes the blood run cold. Click Here To Download Paranormal Activity 3 full version movie in hd quality Directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman build the tension with the same skill that turned their previous project Catfish into one of the most frightening films of the last 12 months, masterfully drawing the viewer in in spite of the fact that you’ve seen it all before. They also make a smart addition to the franchise in the shape of a camera mounted on an oscillating fan, a device which piles on the suspense as the makeshift device hypnotically pans from room-to-room. The decision to continue the series’ tradition of using practical effects over CGI is also a smart one, resulting in scares that feel like they are actually happening (rather than looking like they have been created in some expensive Hollywood special effects house). But the directors can’t do anything with the frequent lapses in logic and credibility in Christopher B. Landon’s script. The story endeavours to tell something of the back-story of these horrors, yet when taken in conjunction with the previous two films, there appear to be glaring holes throughout, the most obvious of which would seem to be how the girls forgot these events in the previous installments? Landon also struggles to make a compelling case for the use of a video-camera throughout the film. Much like previous found footage flicks The Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield, it seems unbelievable that any character would continue shooting in the face of such terror, and yet for long sequences in Paranormal Activity 3 they watch events through a view-finder rather than downing tools and helping their loved ones. He does bring some nice flashes of humour to the story however, with jokes at the expense of Back to the Future and Teddy Ruxpin raising laughs, and the addition of hilarious assistant cameraman Randy helping to lighten proceedings when the action turns particularly dark. The filmmakers would need to change their approach however, as one can’t help but feel that they’ve drained this particular well dry of ideas; the found footage device having run its course by the time the finale rolls around. And if the franchise were to finish here, it would be a fitting conclusion to what has been a consistently terrifying trilogy. Click Here To Download Paranormal Activity 3 full version movie in hd quality It won’t convert non-believers of this particular style of film, but those who enjoyed parts one and two will doubtless love Paranormal Activity 3, and while it lacks the narrative cohesion of its predecessors, it surpasses them in terms of tension and scares.
