Why choose to live in Edgware Road?

Real Estate
Considering moving to London? You might want to look at the benefits of living in Edgware Road, a part of the capital city that has existed since before Roman times.

The road originally served as an ancient pathway that took people through the Great Middlesex Forest. However, this was turned into part of Watling Street by the Romans years later. It remained like this for many years, before improvements were made to the track in 1711.

Builders were hired at this time to establish a series of local inns and pubs that were used as stops along the route by coaches. Many of these can still be seen as you continue your way down the modern version of the road.

This district in Central London now spans three postal areas, covering the streets around Marble Arch. It will take you from the north-west side of Hyde Park on to Cumberland Gate and runs north-west from Marble Arch, passing through Marylebone Road and Maida Vale, before reaching Kilburn and Cricklewood.

Before committing to buying or renting a property in this part of London, you must make sure you do a bit of research to ascertain whether it is the right area for you.

This district is diverse and has a rich culture thanks to its Arab population. You will find a vast array of shisha cafes and Lebanese restaurants around its streets as a result.

There are a lot more attractions to Edgware Road, however - you will be able to engage in a bit of retail therapy with ease by moving here, as there are many high street shops to be found, as well as a wide range of more Middle Eastern stores that sell Arabic jewellery, music and traditional fabrics.

In terms of places to live, you will find that you have plenty of choice in Edgware Road - ideal if you still haven't decided if you want to move to a flat or a house. Lots of traditional buildings can be found here, with retail stores' upper floors often used for residential purposes.

One example of this is Forset Court, although there are also lots of purpose-built contemporary blocks of flats, including Jerome House and Scala House.

Art Deco properties can be found near the edges of the district, such as Elliot House - which offers spacious open-plan living flats - as well as mews-style residences.

One point you need to bear in mind when moving to London is the transport links, and Edgware Road really comes into its own in this regard.

It is a highly convenient place to live as there are a number of easy access routes. The local underground station is next to Praed street and the Marylebone Road flyover. You can travel on the Circle, District, Hammersmith and City lines, so this would be ideal if you have a job in the centre of London.

Other nearby tube stations include Marylebone and Marble Arch, while there are also a variety of different buses that go through the area.

With so much to commend it, Edgware Road would be a good choice as an area in which to live for professionals who need easy access to their offices in the centre of the city, as well as for those who simply enjoy living in a culturally diverse location.

Choosing a good lettings or estate agent can do much to help you in your search for the perfect property in London.
