There are six branches of ancient Indian astro and these are: Gola which is known for positional astronomy, Ganita know for mathematical calculation, Jataka known for Natal astrology, Prasna known for answering the question which is based on time, Muhurta which is also known as the perfect time for starting anything new and last one is Nimitta which is known as Omens and Portents.
