2011's Necessary TV Features.

Business,Business News
Deal pages offer some amazing deals on electronics and one of the most commonly found type of consumer goods seen on these sites is the humble TV. TVs are big business and the move to digital TV and flatscreen viewing has meant that the market for TVs is strong.

This alongside the lack of money for going out means that TV has become a growing past time in the European market, even more so than it was. Sitting down with a pizza and watching some of the goggle box is the new going out for many people as they try and save their money. So, we look at and explain some of the features you should try to have on your TV.

LED Lighting

LED TVs have replaced the older type of flat screen LCD TVs and are at a huge advantage over the originals as they can be slimmer and also offer a better viewing experience to the viewer. This is because of the way they are made. Instead of having lights taking up the inside middle of the TV, the new LED TVs light the picture from the edge, this allows companies to make them thinner and lighter and so they are tidier and easier to hang on walls. Some current TVs from manufacturers such as Samsung have entered the market at less than 1cm in depth – an amazing feat ad all thanks to LED TV technology.

Freeview HD

High definition TV is an amazing thing, it offers up to four times the detail of DVD quality images and so is an amazing visual experience relative to the older technology. This can be best seen during sporting events, where the texture of grass among other things is very clear on the screen.

Many of the newer TVs offer this service on their Freeview features. These Freeview HD features come inside the TV, meaning you won’t need an aerial to view such amazing quality pictures or a separate box. This is tidier, eliminates the need for wires and also a wonderful leap for TV technology. If you can get high definition Freeview on a new set take it. Many TVs offered on a deal page have this feature and so are very desirable.

Hz Refresh Rate

The refresh rate of the TV is the amount of times that the picture refreshes in a second. Traditionally TVs had a refresh rate of 50Hz – this meant the picture refreshed itself 50 times in a second. This meant that the TV would often look jumpy during fast moving scenes or especially during fast moving ports and so the quality was not as good.

Modern TV sets have a 100Hz refresh rate, this means they refresh 100 times in a second and are so twice as fast at doing so as the traditional TV – this obviously means a smoother and a better picture, especially good for those watching sports and other fast looking programmes. Having a higher refresh rate can also be helped by a number of factors including the TVs processor and the kind of screen, though the Hz is the most important factor. Look out for the amount of Hz offered when purchasing a TV from a deal page.

Smart TV

Just like phones TV’s have also become Smart. This means that you can now get a TV with access to the Internet and all that goes with it. This does not just mean browsing, but also means you can watch things such as YouTube on your TV as well as CatchUp services such as 4OD and BBC IPlayer, which allow you to look thorough all the programmes BBC has had on for a long period and view them whenever you want – like a gigantic number of recordings you can flick through whenever you want.

Smart TVs also come with other features, such as allowing you to connect to Twitter when watching a show and comment on it through your TV, or you can connect to social media – in fact the possibilities are endless and time will no doubt show us a number of other features we are yet unfamiliar with.

Modern TVs are wonderful things and there are many more features, however these are the major developments and what you should look for in a top quality set on deal pages.
