Suffering from the reduced profit margins and greater competition, Blackberry developer, RIM Ltd. declared 2000 job cuts for Blackberry app developer and others. RIM justifies this act as a cost-cutting scheme. Also, RIM assures that it will circulate the information to laid-off employees, during this week. The job cuts are resulting in ten percent fall in RIM’s labor force. Company’s second quarter results of the fiscal year on Sept 15 will reveal more about the company’s forced resignations. Blackberry application developers do an excellent job of creating apps for Playbook. Playbook is not all work and no play but its alluring interface and 1GHZ QNX-based processor, puts it through the iPhone and Android competition. Blackberry developers are creating amazing applications for Playbook. Without denying the fact, we must state that Playbook is beyond just the stylish and high-performing device. Offering Flash and HTML 5 support, Blackberry app developer left no room for complaints. Blackberry launched its miniature mobile device to offer a complete desktop experience. Unlike iPad, Blackberry plays Flash games and videos rendering better user experience. The only disadvantage is that Playbook doesn’t offer an offline access to emails, calendar, and address book. The only way to access emails is through web. Although RIM doesn’t offer as many apps as an iPad does, Blackberry application developers are in progress to develop more apps. Currently, Blackberry provides sufficient apps to keep users engaged. RIM also spins through Blackberry OS. RIM released Blackberry OS 7; however, it came out as a total disappointment to users. A vast number of people hoped for a QNX-based OS, which it is not. Blackberry OS 7 offers all that OS 6 and 6.1 offered, except that it doesn’t work on the older version. Officially, there is no information on unveiling of the OS 7. However, there is a speculation about Blackberry releasing seven new handsets by the end of 2011, based on OS 7. Apart from the OS 7 and Playbook, Blackberry tried to gain momentum into the market through its new version of BBM-the software, which went viral in the country. BBM helped Blackberry users to stay connected with each other. The new version of BBM, that is BBM, arrived with better and multiple features offering better connectivity options to the users. BBM is available to download at RIM’s app world online store, today. New features allow users to text friends via instant messaging from within various applications. This means, users can now stay connected with friends even when they are busy playing games or using social networking site. Blackberry app developers get a chance to leverage the growth of BBM. RIM hasn’t introduced a new phone since August, and there is a considerable fall in smart phone users. In U.S., smart phone users fell 4.2 percentage points to 24.7 percent through three months. Investors and consumers are eagerly waiting to see Blackberry series about to be lined up based on its OS 7. According to RIM, the products will be available by late summer in U.S.
