As well as boasting some gorgeous blooms, set within lovely grounds, this floral attraction is also home to one of the most comprehensive herb gardens in the whole of Europe. It was originally created by gardening enthusiast and keen traveller Sir James Knott, and his love of different countries is obvious when wandering around its various sections. From the traditional Japanese garden, to the more formal European areas and the rock and water gardens, there is a lot to see on a visit here. If you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary, the attraction for you may well be the Jersey Shell Garden. This interesting garden was created back in 1957 by Jersey native and keen gardener Colin Soudain, and now holds the unique title of being the largest shell garden in the world. Split over three levels, it features shell mermaids, sea horses, giant clams and shell dolphins. Jersey's favourable climate makes it a great spot for growing all sorts of plants and herbs, and to see a working herb farm in action, head to the Jersey Lavender Farm. This farm produces a huge amount of lavender for use in toiletries and other products, and you can pick up some homemade lavender items in the well-stocked gift shop.
