However, according to many experts, the use of defogger is not a permanent solution for a dengue outbreak due to the fact that mosquitoes would only transfer to another location. Cleaning One of the many dengue prevention methods that different awareness groups are pushing is cleaning one’s own home and backyard. Because of the rainy season, the formation of stagnant water is common, which are breeding grounds for mosquitoes. If left unchecked, a single pool of water can produce hundreds of dengue-carrying mosquitoes, which is why cleaning is an important part for dengue prevention. Mosquito Repellent The use of different mosquito repellent lotions and solutions had also gained a lot of demand in times of a dengue outbreak. Experts have said that the use of a dengue repellent is a safe way to prevent infection of the dengue virus. However, using branded repellents may become too expensive for some Filipinos. This is why different home-made concoctions were developed as a cheaper alternative to branded repellents. A popular example is a mixture of garlic, oil, and any form of citrus fruits such as lemons as well as kalamansi which can be applied as lotions. Proposed Solutions According to experts, the reason why many Filipinos have died due to dengue is because of the virus’ aggressiveness.
